University of California San Diego is one of the top universities in the country. Its visual arts department is touted as a comprehensive interdisciplinary program with studies covering the spectrum of Art History to Computing in the Arts. Its undergraduate and graduate labs have many small and large format printers as well as dozens of displays.

encompus serves as a consultant to UCSD Visual Arts in implementing a color-managed workflow. Through associate professor and photographer Phel Steinmentz, encompus provides regular technology consulting as well as color management implementation for both the undergraduate and graduate imaging labs. encompus also works together on a regular basis with Professor Steinmetz to make sure his black and white printing is neutral and yields proper tone and contrast.
